Washington to Washington Days 16-19th

It was hard saying goodbye the next morning.  I had to take a selfie in front of my friend's famous happiness wall! My friend kept saying she thought we were staying another night, but I was all, "Nope!" without looking at my schedule. So dumb.

We hit Carthage on our way to Michigan.

In the room where it happened.

It was sometime on the road after this that I realized that my friend was right and I had planned on staying with her another night. It was too late to turn back so now I was in a quandry. I had told Clinton and Janet that we would be arriving on July 8th. It was the 6th. What to do? I tried calling but got no answer. So we stopped for dinner at Bob Evans to celebrate Emily's 8th birthday. I finally got a hold of Clinton and after explaining my craziness, they graciously allowed us to come up directly. It was so sweet of them to accommodate us, they had just returned from a trip to see family so it was super nice of them to let us crash two days early!

It was dark when we got to their house and I passed it 3 times. They are on a corner so I would pass and then take the block without realizing they had their driveway on that street so I would pass again. Clinton came out to direct me thankfully. Staying with them was like a balm to my soul, really. We played in the park and soaked in the sun and even went to the Henry Ford Museum.

Mulberry hands!

The Henry Ford Museum was incredible!

We made paper airplanes.

This is the bus where Rosa Parks wouldn't give up her seat.

Buckminster Fuller designed the Home of the Future, it's called the Dymaxion House. We had to tease Daniel a bit since he admires Fuller's work. It was really interesting.

I needed to visit a comic book store, and Clinton was kind enough to show me where it was. I love a good comic book store! I needed a comic for my FoE craft. It took me a bit to find one that would work.

On Sunday we packed the van up, said goodbye, and headed to church before leaving for Palmyra. The ward was really nice and the building was a little confusing, but it was fun.

Easter

I found a Baptist church that hosted an egg hunt. We went and it was so much more, they had games and they fed us lunch. It was nice.  Lizz...
