Washington to Washington Days 22-24

We finally made it to VA! We drove right past their house while Rex was outside, I was having trouble hearing the GPS over the music so we turned around and found it. Rex gave me the nickel tour, their home is so big! After a good night's sleep, we headed out for our first DC excursion. Parking in DC is crazy especially if you are a bigger vehicle. The place Jess had reserved for us would not fit my van. We found a tiny open-air lot next to some construction and we just squeezed in. We stopped briefly at The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. It was very cool, I'd like to spend more time there sometime.

Next, we headed to the Capitol building for our tour.

In the museum, there was this replica of the dome with the other side open to see inside. The kids loved playing with it.

Each state has 2 statues, Daniel Boone is one of our Washington state's representatives.

Teddy conked out during the film presentation.

This is how Teddy experienced the Capitol building. We went up and down the elevator and walked through crowded echoing rooms. He slept through it all!

Sporting our nifty hearing devices. They cut out in the elevator, but it was so nice being able to hear our tour guide.

We had lunch at the Capitol cafeteria. It had a ton of options and I loved the Indian food. The desserts were not very good, but the kids all got their favorite things to eat so that was fun.

Lizzy had to catch some shade. It was Hot!

We stopped briefly in the botanical garden. It was beautiful and cooler too, so that was a bonus!

On our way back to the cars we stopped at one of the many icecream trucks. It was cold, but not very good; live and learn.
