Party Time

My parents came up for a visit and we celebrated Teddy's 2nd birthday, Lizzy and Daniel's birthdays too. It's crazy to think Teddy is 2 now.

Of course, there was a pinata.

Teddy got these fun expandable spheres.

Lizzy got a nice leather-bound sketch book.
Daniel got cufflinks and a sextant. He was excited because the next sailing course is using a sextant.

Teddy also got a dino pop-up book and popping rings.

Happy birthday!

Carnival

The Primary school had a carnival fundraiser, Lizzy had a class at the library at the same time and Daniel was out to sea, so it was a crazy night. I got everyone where they needed to be.

Cinco De Mayo

Hot on the heels of May the fourth we celebrated the victory of Pueblo!

Don't ever ask a 2-year-old what pinata to get for a Mexican holiday. You get gems like this:

The kids were a little disappointed that it was a pull pinata and not one you hit, but they were happy with the candy, except for Devon who declared he couldn't eat any of them with his spacers. Oh well, you can't win them all. I did offer him some other candy, but he refused it. I had pan dulce and introduced the kids to chickle gum. It was a hit.

May the Fourth

This year I made my own Star Wars shirt for May the Fourth. It worked out pretty well. I made Lizzy one too. Jessica had given me some Star Wars patterned vinyl when she moved, and this was a perfect project for it. I'm still a  novice when it comes to the Cricut, but it worked this time, Huzzah!

This isn't the best shot, but you get the idea. Lizzy's had a huge picture of the Deathstar. I didn't realize that they had an extra plastic coating that you should remove, so we went through the morning with it really stiff, once I found some of them peeling off my shirt I got the idea and removed them. It was much more comfortable to wear then. Most of the kids wore some sort of star wars shirt or socks. We finished the day with our traditional Sarlacc cake. It's so yummy! When I was driving to the Dalles, I thought this hillside resembled Jabba the Hut. I was heading strait for him!!!!
The library got in on the fun too!

Evel Knievel

Daniel told me that there was an Evel Knievel  Museum  in  Topeka, KS, but it was being relocated to Las Vegas in a month. I had to go ...
