Heidi

Emily, Devon, and Charles were cast in a community performance of Heidi. They are goats and a goatherd. They had been practicing weekly on the lawn of the head of the Goldendale Community Theater. I didn't know it to begin with, but this is the inaugural production for GCC. It was a little crazy as some of the cast got Covid, and some of the cast dropped out. It was originally slotted to be performed in June, but with all the setbacks, it was changed to the first and second of July. I pulled the kids since we had planned a trip to Utah for the fourth of July to visit Sal and Caitlin.

Here they are developing their characters.

Then my plans were rudely interrupted, as my AirBnB canceled, and gas went up a dollar so I said fine and put the kids back in the play. We don't have a theater in Goldendale, so we were performing in a church. This was our first rehearsal in the church.

Costume checks

Makeup checks. I did the kid's makeup. I had to buy out the dollar general to get stuff for them. I wasn't expecting to do it. It worked out though.

Charles had a Young Men's campout so he missed the dress rehearsal. They did really great though! It was fun seeing them perform. They all enjoyed the experience. Devon really loved the spotlight. The paper wrote up 2 pieces about the play so they were excited to see their picture in the paper! They had three performances and they loved giving autographs!

Our local optometrist did a prelude for us. It was fun.

Here are the bios I did for them:

Emily is relatively new to Goldendale, this is her second year here, but she is enjoying country living.  Emily can't decide if she wants to be an artist, an astronaut, or a scientist when she grows up. Emily has always relished acting. While this is her first real production she has regaled her family many times with her sense of drama. She is excited to add Goat to her list of accomplishments.

Devon is a newcomer to Goldendale. He is enjoying the numerous differences from his native Vancouver, WA. Devon loves music and dancing, he took ballet classes three years ago. His favorite subject in school is math. Devon wants to be a school teacher when he grows up.  This is his first play.

Charles is delighted to be in Goldendale for the second year. He likes the community and has enjoyed practicing for Heidi. He wants to be a volcanologist when he grows up. He named his character Goat McGoat and he hopes you like his performance. This is his first production.
