Parks and Parties

We discovered a new park, the war memorial park, not to be confused with the other war memorial park....but I digress. It was fun, the play equipment was a little weird though.

We celebrated May the Fourth and Cinco De Mayo. Which means, Sarlacc cake and pinatas!

This is not the droid you are looking for, he sure is cute though!

I let Henry pick the pinata for Cinco de Mayo, while it's definitely not traditional, the kids had fun anyway. Poor Devon was right under it when the candy dropped and he got quite a few hits to the head.

making Things

I got to go to JoAnn's for the first time in over a year and I picked out some fun fabric to make masks.

Meanwhile, Daniel has been working hard to finish up our bathroom remodel.

This shower is so high-tech! It has so many settings and sprayers, the white square on the bottom left comes off and is a foot sprayer of all things! We didn't know about all the features when we picked it out. The boys like it though. Daniel and I have yet to try it out.

The War Memorial

On the morning when the Gutierrezes had to leave, we went to the WW1 war memorial or Stonehenge. Caitlin had only seen it at night briefly before, so it made a much nicer impression in the daylight. We played hide and seek, which Caitlin won handily.

I was sad to see them go. It was a wonderful visit. My older kids were bummed they had to go to school and miss out, but thems the breaks.

Celebrating Yuri

My brother asked if they could come up for a quick visit and we were thrilled to host them. What made it even more special is they were coming during Yuri's night! Yuri Gagarin was the first human in space. Each year there is a celebration of all things space-related on April 12. Daniel had been telling me about it for years, but we never really did anything about it. But with my science-loving brother and sister-in-law coming I knew I had to do something special! It was surprisingly difficult to locate space-themed things in April.

We had a nice visit, it was so good to catch up. I am terrible about calling my relations. I love talking to them, but I never seem to pick up the phone. We had a great time, and the kids had a blast. We did rocket races.

And made space scenes.

It was so fun, I can't wait to do it next year!

Evel Knievel

Daniel told me that there was an Evel Knievel  Museum  in  Topeka, KS, but it was being relocated to Las Vegas in a month. I had to go ...
